Boston had its first opportunity to make its pitch to the top MLB free agent on the market on Thursday.

Thursday night the Red Sox met with Soto and Boras for approximately three hours, reports MassLive.com. Boston was represented by chairman Tom Werner, president Sam Kennedy, CBO Craig Breslow, and manager Alex Cora. The meeting was introductory in nature, and contract terms were not discussed. That will come later, presumably.

The Boston Red Sox held an informational session with Soto to pitch him on coming to play for the Red Sox in Southern California on Thursday night. The meeting was three hours long and described as productive by Sean McAdam of MassLive. Soto was described as "impressed."
