According to PCB, the tour is scheduled to start from November 16 but it wasn't clear at the time of writing whether it will now go ahead on that day

New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday put on hold Champions Trophy tour of disputed Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) following Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) strong objection to the PCB's move.

Similar to previous ICC events, the trophy tour aims to generate excitement and connect fans across participating nations.

Jay Shah condemned PCB’s trophy tour in PoK, citing political interference, and asked the ICC to take appropriate action against Pakistan.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah had strongly condemned the ICC Champions Trophy tour to the three cities of PoK. The drama surrounding the ICC Champions Trophy is not ending. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had stated that the trophy would be visiting destinations like Skardu, Hunza and Muzaffarabad. However, ICC has refused Pakistan from taking it to conflicted PoK cities.

The ICC on Friday (November 15, 2024) put on hold Champions Trophy tour of disputed Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) following BCCI’s strong objection to the PCB’s move. The tournament, last played in 2017, is already in limbo after the BCCI intimated ICC about Indian cricket team's inability to travel to Pakistan.

The rift between India and Pakistan goes on over India's participation in the ICC Champions Trophy. While the International Cricket Council (ICC) is yet to find a solution to this problem, the cricketing body has flown the trophy to the host nation for a tour beginning November 16.

If Pakistan pulls out of the hosting rights then in all likelihood, UAE will host the tournament. The broadcasters on the other hand will want the tournament in the same time zone. The official announcement will be made in the coming weeks after discussions with all stakeholders.
